Reagan Band Members Collect Shoes to Raise Money

Students in all of the music groups at Reagan have been collecting shoes as a way to raise money.

About 250 students participate in one program or another and together they have collected thousands of shoes from our community.

The shoes will be given to Funds2Orgs.

“We found out about the Funds2Orgs organization while researching fundraisers for the band program at Reagan,” said Debbie Solis, who oversees Reagan Bands Fundraising. “All shoes collected are sent to developing countries through the Funds2Orgs organization to help those in need. Our program will receive payment based on total weight of shoes collected."

“All monies earned through this humanitarian fundraiser will be used to support various needs for the bands at Reagan, i.e. purchasing music, clinicians, instruments, etc.”

On Nov. 13, the Jazz 1 group at Reagan High School will perform with world-renowned trombone player Delfeayo Marsalis (Wynton Marsalis’ brother).

They are scheduled to perform at 9 a.m. at the N.C. Music Educators Conference being held in Winston-Salem at Benton Convention Center.
