Best-Selling Author Visits Parkland High

This comes to us from Kizzy Lewis-Phillips, the Media Coordinator at Parkland High:

Thanks to Bookmarks, Parkland High School had a visit from the author Sharon Draper on Friday, November 9th. Sharon Draper visited the Media Center and spoke to the 11th and 12th grade English classes.

Draper was the National Teacher of the Year in 1997 and is also a New York Times bestselling author, a five-time Coretta Scott King honoree, and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award in 2012.

Parkland students asked powerful questions after listening intently as Draper read excerpts from her books Tears of a Tiger, Forged by Fire, and her new title Blended that tackles divorce, racial identify, and other tough issues.
