On Oct. 12, marching
bands from 11 high schools in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools
performed at the 20th annual Marching Band Jamboree at West Forsyth High
School. Bands were judged by a panel of regional music professionals — not for
awards, but for feedback in improving their routines.
Superintendent Beverly
Emory directed the combined bands’ performance of “America the Beautiful” in
the finale, which included eighth-grade students from the school system’s
middle schools.
