On
Monday, cheerleaders at Glenn High School delivered book bags filled with
school supplies to students at two elementary schools and one middle school
whose students often go on to Glenn.
During
the summer, cheerleaders collected 36 book bags and enough school supplies to
fill each bag. They gave 10 book bags with supplies to Caleb’s Creek
Elementary, 10 Union Cross Elementary and 10 to Southeast Middle. They
kept six bags to give to students needing assistance at Glenn High School.
This is
the second year that the cheerleaders have sponsored a book bag/school supply
drive.
Assistant
principal Travis Seegars said that, at Glenn, they are working to make a
connection with feeder schools so that people there know they will provide
assistance as everyone works to close achievement and poverty gaps in the
district.
“Each
summer, when we plan for this initiative, we do so with three words in mind:
Wisdom, Hope and Integrity, Seegars said.
