Students Participate in National Honors Ensemble in Orlando, Fla.

At the end of November, four Winston-Salem/Forsyth County students and one student at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts participated in The All-National Honors Ensemble, held in Orlando, Fla., at the Coronado Resort in Disney World.

The students were (left to right in the picture):
Grace Krell, flute, West Forsyth High
Sunni Li, flute, Reagan High
Hannah Robins, percussion, University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Elizabeth Rodgers, soprano, East Forsyth High
Isaac Cooper, trumpet, Reynolds High

“The students that made these Ensembles were representing their states with the best and brightest music students in 49 other states all over the nation,” said Johnathan Hamiel, the Band Director at Reynolds High.

More than 600 students participated in the event sponsored by the National Association for Music Education.

To be invited, students had to:

1. Place in the top chairs of All-District
2. Once they made All-Districts, they were allowed to try-out/audition for All-State.
3. Once they made All-State, they had to learn a new solo and send in a Video Audition to All-Nationals.

The students found out this fall who made it.
