William
Orrell, a Mount Tabor senior who holds a number records in speed stacking, has been featured in a NBA
commercial with LeBron James.
Jenny
Drabble wrote about it in the Winston-Salem Journal. Here is an excerpt:
At age 18, Clemmons native
William Orrell has already broken 32 Guinness world records and shattered the
barriers of what was once thought impossible.
The
world’s fastest speed stacker, Orrell was recently featured in an NBA commercial with basketball icon LeBron James.
“William’s
the fastest in the universe, that’s his claim to fame,” said his father, Bill
Orrell. “He’s the star in the world for speed stacking and LeBron is the star
for basketball, so it’s a very impactful ad.”
Speed
stacking — also known as cup stacking or sport stacking — involves stacking
cups in specific sequences as quickly as possible.
The NBA
commercial marries a clip of one of Orrell’s fastest stacks with a video of
James celebrating on the court.
The ad,
which has been released worldwide on social media, television and Internet
platforms, is set to run for 18 months and has been aired in several languages.
“I
wasn’t sure exactly what to expect,” said Orrell, a Mount Tabor High School
senior. “I didn’t know what they were going to do with it, but it turned out
pretty cool.”
You
will find the rest of the story at Winston-Salem Journal. Journal photographer David Rolfe took the
pictures.
