Junior League Names WS/FC Schools 2016-17 Partner of Year

The Junior League of Winston-Salem bestowed its 2016-2017 Community Partner of the Year award to Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools.

In partnership with local public schools, the Junior League of Winston-Salem (JLWS) is able to support the health and well-being of thousands of our community’s children each year.

The JLWS BackPack program at Cook Elementary, JLWS BookWORM’s support of the Rodney Ellis Dream Center at Philo-Hill Magnet Academy, and the relationship with Kimberley Park through the JLWS Strong Women, Strong Families Initiative would not be possible without the unwavering and longstanding support of Winston-Salem Forsyth/County Public Schools.

The Junior League of Winston-Salem's longest partnership with WS/FCS has been in place since 1986 – 30 in 2016-2017. This project, the Child Abuse Puppet Show, has been presented to 4,400 third-graders in the WS/FCS system in this year alone.

The newest JLWS program, Strong Women, Strong Families, developed in partnership with Kimberley Park Elementary School, has already had 500 individuals attend their health forums in its very first year.

It is with deepest gratitude that the Junior League of Winston-Salem presented this award to Dr. Beverly Emory, Mr. Michael Pesce, and members of the Board of Education, at our May 22 year-end General Membership Meeting.

The Junior League of Winston-Salem thanks WS/FCS for their support of our organization, and their commitment to our community at large.
