Joyce Moyer Hostetter |
On
Tuesday April 21, North Carolina writer Joyce Moyer Hostetter will visit Southeast
Middle School. The event is open to the community.
Hostetter
is the author of Blue, a historical
novel about a family stricken by polio during World War II while the father is
off serving in the war. The story is set in Hickory, where Hostetter lives.
Hostetter
will talk about the process of getting the idea for her book and about researching
and writing it.
Hostetter
is scheduled to speak from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Before and after, she will be
available to sign her books, which will be available to buy for $8.
“In
addition to our author visiting that night, we have a representative from the
public library who is bringing the book mobile that serves our community,
especially Hispanic families,” said Lisa Turner, the media coordinator at
Southeast. “She will have a display before and during the author presentation
where parents can complete the paperwork for a library card and also
information about the public library’s summer reading program.
“Families,
please take an hour to celebrate reading! We hope you will come.”
Right
after school that day, Southeast students who read Blue will be meeting with Hostetter to talk about the writing
process.
