Twenty-four Students Accepted to Governor's School of North Carolina

Twenty-four students in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools have been accepted to Governor's School of North Carolina, a summer enrichment program in academics and the arts.

It is the oldest statewide summer academic program in the country for gifted high school students. It began in 1963 at Salem College. In 1978, a second location was added. The West Program is at Salem and the East Program is at Meredith College in Raleigh. Most students going are juniors this year. A few students in performing arts are sophomores.
